Our estate sale this week is the estate of Fred & Carolyn Blackmar. Theirs is a love story of 59 years as told through their life adventures, mutual goals and the love of family. Fred and Carolyn met in Luling where she the star drummer and he a tall handsome young man met and fell in love. Thus, began the family we have come to know as the Blackmar Legacy. It is evident in this home that there was a lot of love not only for each other but for their surroundings. Including but not limited to animals that needed saving and enjoying just watching their little ways of life.
Both Carolyn and Fred attended the University of Texas, and upon Fred’s graduation, the two were married. Fred commissioned in the US Navy, and became a U.S. Naval Aviator and Carolyn a “Navy Wife”, fishing poles and of course golf clubs in hand relocated to Pensacola. After 22 years in the Navy, they retired to Corpus Christi pursuing passions for golf and fishing. Fred started his own golf club repair shop. He was a talented golf instructor with many memories from the US Open and the PGA Tours as well as the Master’s and when not on the course fishing occupied much of his time. In addition, he had a love for rocks, agates, crystals and a member of the Gem and Mineral Association. Carolyn had many interests one her love for creating oriental style fresh and imitation floral arrangements. She was also a bird watcher & loved the migratory seasons. In an ironic twist to her affection for birds, Carolyn’s greatest love was cats. Yes, she tried to save the world’s cat population on their back doorstep.
